Power To Play returns to Stanley Park tomorrow

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Local business leaders will be ditching their suits and laptops for race gear and outdoor challenges as part of the fifth annual Power To Play event in Stanley Park tomorrow.

“Think of it’s like a Tough Mudder type race, but it’s really about teamwork,” explains Dana Hutchings, Director of Advancement and Communications for Power To Be, a Victoria-based non-profit.

“[Our] belief is that everyone belongs in nature and if you have a barrier to get there, we’re going to help get you there,” she says.

“Whether it’s physical, mental, financial, we want to get you into nature because we really do believe in adventure therapy and getting outdoors so you can break your own barriers.”

The race aims to raise $240,000 dollars for Power To Be’s adaptive recreation and youth wilderness school programs.

Thirty-four teams of four will take part, made up of business professionals from all over the Lower Mainland, putting their teamwork and problem-solving skills to the ultimate test.

“They’re working together get through this amazing adventurous race course. And what a scene! Stanley Park? What an amazing place to race! It’s going to be awesome.”

The race runs from 12:00 to 3:30 tomorrow afternoon and spectators are welcome.
