Royals to visit Vancouver women’s centre

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Women at the Sheway Women’s Centre are getting a once in a lifetime Royal experience.

The group will get the chance to greet Will and Kate during a visit on Sunday.

Among them is 28-year-old Cameo, who says she’s thrilled to have the chance to meet the Royal couple, she says she’s hardly been able to sleep because she’s so excited.

“I feel very excited and blessed to meet them, it’s a once in a lifetime chance for sure,” says Cameo, who adds she hopes to get the opportunity to ask the family what kind of tea is their favourite.

The Duke and Dutchess are set to tour the Downtown Eastside including the Sheway women’s centre during their Vancouver stopover.

“I just want to say thank you for coming to the DTES. There’s a lot of people doing new things and a lot of people that are doing very well out here and they need to see that, people need to see that.”

Cameo, the other women and some children helped make a banner to welcome the Royals.

The visit also includes a stop at the Immigrant Services Society and the reopened Kitsilano Coast Guard station.

Reporter Lasia Kretzel will be following the Royal Visit in Victoria on Saturday, and reporter Kurtis Doering will be tagging along for the Vancouver leg on Sunday. Get your Royal fix and follow them on Twitter.
