Whitecaps still in it as Colorado comes to town

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The Whitecaps aren’t done yet – despite the fact it seems that way with just four matches to go in the MLS regular season. Vancouver is six points out of a playoff spot as the Colorado Rapids pay a visit to BC Place. (4pm)

“I believe we still have a chance.” Whitecaps head coach Carl Robinson said after training earlier this week.

“I’ll keep preaching to the players until it’s mathematically impossible – we won’t be giving in. We’ll be trying to make (Saturday’s game) as difficult as possible for Colorado, with the intention of getting three points.”

Colorado has the upper hand on Vancouver this season, as the third best team in the West has come away with four of a possible six points in the previous two meetings. The Rapids have made quite a turnaround this season, and on the back of a stifling team defence, have emerged as one of the top teams in the League.

Missing the postseason would bring with it the potential for big changes in the offseason, something that’s not lost on the players.

“Everybody’s going to have to be accounted for.” the Whitecaps’ Jordan Harvey said this week.

“The games are coming, and we need three points. That’s the bottom line. I don’t think the next game or two are going to define someone’s season. But if you don’t make the playoffs, it’s clear things will change.” Harvey added.

Vancouver does play three of its final four games at BC Place, where they have gone 5-4-5 this season.
