Calgary Stampeder players and fans turn out for Hicks vigil

CALGARY (NEWS 1130) – There were fond stories shared at a candlelight vigil last night for a Calgary Stampeder who loved life and the game.

Mylan Hicks was gunned down early Sunday morning after heading out to the Marquee Nightclub to celebrate a big win with teammates.

Friends, family and many within the CFL organization gathered to pay their respects to Hicks and his family who are now in Calgary.

The sorrow and loss has ripped through just about everyone, players and fans alike many trying to remember the fond memories and moments they shared with Mylan.

Players stood alongside fans, supporting one another.

Deb, who came out in full Stamps gear says she is still in disbelief.

“This kind of thing isn’t supposed to happen in Calgary, you are support to be safe here,” Deb says.

Defensive end Brandon Boudreaux is hopeful people remember Mylan for the man he was.

“I was just as shocked as everyone else was. For tonight, the support we have had by the fans was unbelievable, you can see that Mylan was loved and cared about,” Boudreaux says.

Quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell told those in the crowd given his work ethic, Mylan was clearly raised right.
