VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Police are recommending charges for two men suspected of breaking into newly-built homes in Vancouver to pilfer tools, construction materials, new appliances, and in some cases, even the kitchen sink.
Investigators started looking at a person of interest earlier this month after a series of burglaries in and around Vancouver.
Then, just before 1 p.m. on Saturday, officers spotted their suspect wearing a utility repair uniform and parking a van behind a home near Rupert Street and Vanness Avenue.
Officers say he and another man broke into the home and stole a brand new dishwasher. Then they drove away and sold the dishwasher to another man, at which point all three were pulled over and cuffed.
A 29-year-old man from Coquitlam, a 26-year-old from New Westminster, and a 27-year-old from Vancouver man will be facing charges of break and enter and possession of stolen property.
