The Lions hope to leave the Bombers feeling blue this evening

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The Lions will be trying to exact some revenge this evening when they host the Blue Bombers. Winnipeg defeated BC last week in Manitoba in a game that came down to the final seconds. Both teams have locked up playoff spots, but the Bombers victory has made the race for second in the West Division a dead heat with just a few games left in the season.

These two teams appear destined to meet in the opening round of the playoffs, but who will host the game is definitely up for grabs. Linebacker Solomon Elimimian says the Leos are treating every game like it’s their last.

“From here on out, every game is pretty much a playoff game. That is the mindset we have to approach every game with, because every team is jockeying for playoff position. This game has a lot of playoff implications and it is a must win. These are the kind of games you get up for and it is exciting.”

History is on the side of the Lions for this game. Wally Buono has never lost back-to-back regular season games against the same team as the coach of the Leos.

“The second game usually has a totally different feel and atmosphere to it because it is almost always at the other team’s home field,” says Buono. “The advantage goes to the home team, especially on offence where the team can change their snap count, audible at the line and communicate much more easily.”

In the Winnipeg locker room, running back Andrew Harris says he is excited for his return to BC after playing his last five seasons with the Lions.

“It is going to be excited to play in BC, but at the end of the day, it is a game we have to win. All the hype about playing BC is kind of done with now.”

Harris totalled 24-touchdowns in his 84-games with the Lions.

The opening kick off is at 7 p.m. at BC Place.
