Canucks erase three goal deficit to beat Eddie Lack and the Hurricanes

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Brandon Sutter was the hero for the second straight game. The Canucks forward scored 32 seconds into overtime giving Vancouver a 4-3 win over Carolina.

The Canucks were down 3-0 with just over 14 minutes left in the second, but managed a comeback win for the second straight night after beating Calgary yesterday.

Victor Rask opened the scoring with less than three minutes left in the first when he beat Canucks goalie Jacob Markstrom blocker side. Teuvo Teravainen gave the Hurricanes a 2-0 lead with a power play goal just 1:34 later.

Carolina defenceman Justin Faulk put the visitors up early in the second when he put his own rebound past Markstrom, but the Canucks didn’t fold.

Centre Bo Horvat got Vancouver  on the board with just under eight minutes left in the second period. Markus Granlund cut the Hurricanes lead to one early in third, before defenceman Ben Hutton tied it.

Markstrom made 19 saves in the win. Eddlie Lack stopped 27 of the 31 shots he faced, but the former Canucks netminder is now winless in two games against his old team.

Vancouver continues its four game homestand on Tuesday against the St.Louis Blues.
