Canucks comeback falls short in shootout loss to the Kings

LOS ANGELES, CA (NEWS 1130) – The Vancouver Canucks dug themselves out of an early hole once again. This time, they couldn’t complete the comeback in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Kings.

L.A. came out blazing to start the game. Brayden Mcnabb and Tanner Pearson to give the Kings a 2-0 lead after one. The second didn’t start out well for Vancouver either. Dustin brown scored shorthanded in the first minute to give L.A. a three goal lead.

Vancouver didn’t give up though. Marcus Granlund and Henrik Sedin had goals in the second, cutting the Canucks deficit to one going into the final period.

Alex Edler completed the comeback with less than a minute to go when he beat Peter Budaj with a wrist shot on the power play, sending the game into overtime. Neither team could capitalize during the 3 on 3, and it went to a shootout.

After the Kings scored, Brandon Sutter had a chance to tie it up on Vancouver’s third shot, but he was stopped by Budaj, giving the Kings the extra point.

The Canucks play again tomorrow afternoon on the road in Anaheim.
