After PAC cash goes missing, local homebuilder donates money

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – Following the disappearance of $30,000 from the bank account of a Surrey school Parent Advisory Council’s bank account, a story NEWS 1130 first told you about, a local homebuilding company has come forward to help.

Townline Homes is donating $30,000 so the kids at KB Woodward Elementary receive the new playground that the money was intended to be used for. “I just shook my head, I thought it was disgusting to be honest with you,” says Rick Ilich, president of Townline Homes. “I just felt it was unfortunate that kids have to suffer for some loser’s actions.”

He adds he was surprised at the theft. “We have young kids and we appreciate and respect how important it is for kids to get out and move around a little bit and burn off steam, because they’re sitting in classrooms all day. We talk about it all the time with our own kids. My wife and I just came to the conclusion within about three minutes that we’d try to contact people and see what their needs were, and then we’d fill the gap for them.”

One day after we told you about the missing money at the school, NEWS 1130 learned $20,000 had also gone missing at Serpentine Heights Elementary.

Surrey RCMP say they are actively investigating both cases.
