Metrotown SkyTrain station pedestrian overpass to close permanently

By

BURNABY (NEWS 1130) – TransLink is warning about some pretty big inconveniences for SkyTrain and bus passengers who use Metrotown station.

It’s telling you to plan for an extra five to ten minutes of travel time to get where you need to go.

Starting Wednesday, the overhead pedestrian walkway connecting the SkyTrain station with the mall and bus loop will permanently close for a construction project.

That means passengers will have to take a new set of stairs and walk down and across Central Boulevard.

TransLink says extra staff will be on hand to help out and Compass vending machines will be moved — but it’s also letting you know there will be no escalators.

You’ll have to take the stairs to access train platforms.
