The Canucks go duck hunting tonight against Anaheim

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The Canucks will be in tough tonight in a divisional showdown against the Anaheim Ducks. The California club has won two straight and sits second in the Pacific Division. Vancouver is also looking to extend its winning streak to three games.

The Canucks blueline remains very thin with the injuries to Alex Edler and Chris Tanev. Vancouver will rely on an under-sized defensive lineup to combat the big Ducks forwards. Luca Sbisa is aware of the challenges ahead.

“Guys like Troy Stecher and Erik Gudbranson play big even though they are not the biggest guys on paper. I think we are all good skaters so we need to keep them to the outside. They are going to come hard on the forecheck so we have to be good as a unit.”

Leading the Canucks offensive outburst has been the second line of Alex Burrows, Sven Baertschi and Bo Horvat. Burrows says he is just trying to keep up with the youngsters.

“Bo and Sven are great players. Their hockey IQ is very high, their skill level is very high, they skate well and I think the biggest thing is their will to get better and their will to win. We have been doing a good job and we have been getting on the score sheet, but we can’t be satisfied. We still have to have a plan and keep pushing and fight hard.”

This is the second of five games between the two teams this season. The Ducks won 4-2 in California on October 23rd. Anaheim has dominated Vancouver over the last couple of years with a 12-2-3 in the past 16 contests.

The puck drops at 7 p.m. and you can watch the game on Sportsnet 360.
