Sexual assault charges laid against a Pitt Meadows city councillor

PITT MEADOWS (NEWS 1130) – Pitt Meadows Counicllor David Murray has been charged with sex offences.

He is accused over involvement in an incident which may have happened about 25 years ago.

Murray is charged with sexual assault and sexual interference involving a person under 14-years-old.

Little is known about what Murray is accused of doing, but court documents show the incident is supposed to have happened in 1992.

A publication ban is in place. Crown Counsel says Murray appeared in court when charges were laid in November.

Murray was first elected in 2011 and is a Port Coquitlam parks department employee.

He has a daughter and a son.

Murray coached high school basketball for 30 years according to this bio on the city’s website.

He is set to appear in court again on Thursday.
