Renewed appeal one year after deadly hit and run in Langley

By

LANGLEY (NEWS 1130) – One year ago today a hit and run in Langley left one man dead and police say the investigation is still open.
RCMP say investigators have spent hundreds of hours going over surveillance footage, interviewing neighbours and tracking down cars matching the description of a possible suspect vehicle, but they’ve been unsuccessful.

Police claim on December 20th, 44-year-old Daniel Macauley was walking on 200th Street just before 2:30 a.m. He was found dead around 29th Avenue with injuries indicating he had been hit by a car.

Mounties think the suspect vehicle would be a red Toyota Camry manufactured between sometime between 2007 and 2011. They say likely any damage to the car would be fixed by now but it would have some damage to the front passenger side.

“Fortunately, these types of events are quite rare however, the lack of closure for the family and accountability to society are motivating factors that continue to drive us to seek the answers everyone needs and deserves,” says Langley RCMP Superintendent Murray Power.

Anyone with information is asked to call Langley RCMP at 604.532.3200.
