Ehlers, Laine lead Jets to 4-1 win over Canucks

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A player the Canucks passed on in the 2014 draft came back to haunt them. Second year forward Nikolaj Ehlers scored twice in the third period to lead the Jets to a 4-1 win.

Vancouver scored first for just the ninth time this season when Markus Granlund finished off a beautiful set up from Loui Eriksson less than four minutes in.

It stayed 1-0 until the last minute of the second until Winnipeg super rookie Patrick Laine tied it up with his 19th of the season.

The Jets took over in the third. Ehlers gave the Jets a lead 1:23 into the third when he beat Ryan Miller short side. He then added his second of the period with just under eight minutes to go on a Winnipeg power play.

Bryan Little put the game away late when he jammed a loose puck past the outstretched pad of Miller.

Vancouver got hit with the injury bug again. Forward Jannik Hansen left in the second period with a lower body injury and did not return.

The Canucks play in Calgary tomorrow night before heading into the Christmas break.
