The Canucks look to open the new year with a win over the Avalanche

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The Canucks are looking to match a season-high win streak as they host the Colorado Avalanche tonight. Vancouver has won its last three games, but hasn’t strung together four straight wins since the beginning of the season, after starting 4-0-and-0.

The Canucks will be without Alex Burrows who is dealing with a minor eye injury.

Anton Rodin will draw into the lineup. He laced up for just one game on December, 23 after returning from a knee injury. “It’s been frustrating, but it’s just something you have to deal with. Injuries are part of the game and you just have to look forward.” Rodin will be playing alongside Bo Horvat and Sven Baertschi and is feeling a bit pressure to contribute. “I’m happy I’m back and those are two good players, so I have to play my best hockey.”

Horvat leads Vancouver in scoring with 25 points has a theory as to why his team is on a bit of a roll in close games and overtime. “We’re playing as a team, and we’re playing together. Obviously it helps that we’re healthy on the back-end getting some key players back. I think we’re all giving it that extra five percent, we’re all going hard and that been a huge success for us.”

Ryan Miller to start in goal for Vancouver.

Colorado comes into this game on a three game losing streak.

Game time is at 7 p.m.
