VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The Canucks recent run is proving the pundits wrong. Markus Granlund scored twice to lead Vancouver to its sixth straight win beating the Flames 4-2.
It didn’t start well for the Canucks. Calgary scored on its first shot of the game 1:18 into the game when Michael Frolik beat Ryan Miller from in close.
Vancouver came roaring back. Michael Chaput had his first goal in a Canuck uniform, Loui Eriksson added his ninth of the season to give Vancouver a 2-1 lead after one.
Granlund scored on a power play late in the second, he got his second 3:18 into the final period to put the game out reach. Centre Bo Horvat assisted on Granlund’s second goal, extending his point streak to six games.
Ryan Miller was stellar yet again. He made 44 saves for the win.
With their recent run, the Canucks are sitting in the second wildcard spot in the western conference at the midway point of their season.
The two teams play again tomorrow night in Calgary.
