VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A 33-year-old man from West Vancouver is in custody after police found and safely destroyed a pipe bomb in East Vancouver.

At about 9 p.m. on Thursday, the VPD says officers stopped a car at East Cordova Street near Hawks Avenue. The driver told the officer he had a homemade pipe bomb in his car so the force brought in its Explosive Disposal Unit.

The bomb was found and because it was considered dangerous it was destroyed.

No word on what possible charges may be recommended in this case.
