VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Crown Counsel has approved a couple of charges against a 37-year-old Coquitlam man after a police-involved shooting at a Vancouver SkyTrain Station late last year.
During a snowy, morning commute on December 19th, the VPD says its members shot a man while helping Transit Police respond to reports of someone armed with a machete at the 29th Avenue station. That man was apparently threatening passengers.
At the time, the province’s Independent Investigations Office was called in and said Transit Police attempted to deal with the man and that the VPD was called in for back-up.
Christopher Lee Boyda has been charged with assault with a weapon and uttering threats. He was treated in the hospital for his wounds, released and remains in custody waiting for his next court appearance.
