Protesters not happy about Trudeau’s electoral reform decision gather in Vancouver

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Protesters gathered in downtown Vancouver, expressing frustration with the Prime Minister’s decision to back down on electoral reform.

Justin Trudeau told voters in the North West Territories that reform could give too much power to fringe politicians.

Protester James Filippelli disagrees and says that fringe groups taking full power is less likely to happen if Canada adopts proportional representation.

“I think that right now, you have parties that gather at the sides of the spectrum because they cater the hardcore supporters and just try and pull a few people from the middle.”

Filippelli says he hopes the Prime Minister gets the message that Canadians want better representation, and electoral reform is the way to offer that.
