Canucks don’t want to be left singing the Blues against St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, MO. (NEWS 1130) – The Canucks six game road trip comes to a conclusion this evening with a game against the Blues. It has been an up and down trip for Vancouver with a couple of solid games that have been counteracted by a few clunkers.

The Canucks can end the trip with a .500 record and at this point Coach Willie Desjardins says he would gladly take it.

“Three and three sounds really good right now, but there is a lot of work to do. I have liked the way we have played in almost all our games. I didn’t think the Pittsburgh game was quite as good but obviously we were dealing with injuries. The rest of the trip we have played well and have had chances to get points.”

Bo Horvat and Brandon Sutter both took the morning skate and are game time decisions after missing the Penguins game with injuries. Horvat says a blocked shot on the weekend has been causing him some problems.

“I have blocked so many shots off my foot before where it just causes a bone bruise, but the shot I took on Sunday was a pretty hard shot. It hit me in a pretty awkward place where it hurt the top and bottom of my foot. It just takes time to heal and I thank god nothing is broken.”

Jacob Markstrom gets the start in net for the Canucks. He has won two of his last three games. The Blues will counter with Jake Allen between the pipes. He enters the game red-hot, earning three wins in a row.

St. Louis is playing some stellar hockey right now, having won five straight games and those contests were all on the road. Vancouver is hoping to face a tired Blues team this evening. St. Louis played in Detroit last night, earning a 2-0 win.

This is the second of two games between the clubs this season. Vancouver won the opener in October with a 2-1 overtime victory.

The puck drops at 5 p.m. and you can watch the game on Sportsnet.
