NORTH VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Some good news for North Shore hikers — the Twin Bridge is finally getting a replacement.
The bridge was lost in a 2014 landslide.
The new $2.3-million project includes a new rigid suspension bridge for hikers, cyclists, and horseback riders looking to cross the Seymour River.
Aptly named the Fisherman Trail Bridge, it will reconnect the Fisherman Trail just downstream of the old bridge, the first part of the double crossing project in the Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve.
“We’re also going to be replacing a small pedestrian bridge at the [north] end of Riverside Drive with a larger vehicular bridge,” says Mike Mayers with Metro Vancouver.
He says we can expect shovels in the ground this year.
“We’re hoping to start construction this summer and if everything goes okay we should complete it this year.”
