VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – One of the longest serving Canucks is leaving Vancouver. The team has traded Alex Burrows to the Ottawa Senators in exchange of prospect Jonathan Dahlen.

Dahlen was the 2nd round pick (42nd overall) of the Senators in the 2016 NHL draft. He is playing in the Swedish Elite League this season and has 41-points in 43-games for Timra IK. The 19-year old was also one of the top players for Team Sweden at the World Juniors this year scoring five goals in six games.

Burrows ends his Canucks career after 12-seasons, 822-games and 384-points. He was scheduled to become a free agent at the end of the season but he has already signed a 2-year extension in Ottawa worth $2.5-million a season.

Vancouver practiced this morning, but goalie Jacob Markstrom was not on the ice with his teammates. Coach Willie Desjardins revealed the goalie was injured participating in yesterday’s Super Skills competition. Richard Bachman has been called up from Utica

The Canucks return to action tomorrow, hosting the Red Wings at Rogers Arena. The puck drops at 7 p.m. and you can watch the game on Sportsnet.
