What’s in store for BC’s spring forecast

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – If you’ve been in Metro Vancouver over the past couple of days you’ll be well aware of the bizarre weather patterns we’ve been experiencing. There has been sun, cloud, rain, sleet, hail and snow and it has left many wondering what spring has in store.

The folks at the Weather Network are out with their official forecast and they say we’ll get more cool temperatures and rain.

NEWS 1130 Meteorologist Russ Lacate says there’s a consolation prize. “Following this record-setting cold winter, the West Coast summer is anticipated to trend unseasonably warm and dry. But it’s that transition period that could cause us some trouble as most of March and into early April it will maintain the current trend of cooler than normal conditions with frequent precipitation too.”

He adds the prolonged winter will ease into early spring. “Much of your March forecast still features below average temperatures and above normal episodes of precipitation and perhaps even a little more snow yet to come for next month.”

The Weather Network says western Canada will be prone to more frequent dips into late winter weather through March and early April before more typical spring weather sets in.

The first official day of spring is March 20th.
