No injuries, pet rescued after fire rips through Port Moody home

PORT MOODY (NEWS 1130) – Two people are safe and a small dog has been rescued after a large fire virtually gutted a home in Port Moody last night.

The home is badly damaged as the flames consumed much of the top two floors. The exterior walls are charred and blackened. The homes are tightly packed in the area of Forest Park Way, where the fire took place. Crews and neighbours say it’s a good thing that other homes didn’t sustain as much damage, however, they were evacuated when the fire was initially sparked.

At about 10 p.m. flames were spotted and two people in the home made it out but the firefighters had to go in to search for a small dog and luckily they were able to pull it out. There are reports a canine-oxygen mask had to be used. The two people were treated for smoke inhalation.

There is no word on what caused the fire which is now under investigation.
