Byron’s overtime goal gives Habs win over Canucks

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The Canucks lack of offence continues to be their Achilles heal. Paul Byron scored 1:13 into overtime giving the Canadiens a 2-1 win.

It was a highlight reel deflection by Byron, who’s between the legs tip off a Alex Galchenyuk shot fooled Ryan Miller giving the Habs their sixth straight win.

The Canucks goalie wasn’t says happy with the game winner  “It’s comical. Tough bounce. One of those ones that are right there, but you can’t get it. Frustrating.”

Torrey Mitchell gave Montreal an early lead. He tipped the puck past Miller just 3:57 in putting the Canadiens up 1-0.

Vancouver couldn’t muster anything in the second period being out shot 16-4 by the Habs.

Montreal kept its lead until late in the third period. Canucks forward Michael Chaput deflected Alex Edler’s point shot past Carey Price with 7:11 left in the game.

Brandon Sutter had a glorious chance to win it for Vancouver, but his backhand shot from in-close was stopped by Price with just 0.3 seconds left on the clock.

Miller was outstanding helping the Canucks earn a point by making 36 saves.

Vancouver is 1-4-2 at home since the all-star break and hosts Sidney Crosby and the Penguins on Saturday night.
