ICBC has some advice for drivers as we hit Daylight Saving Time

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Don’t forget, tonight is the night we turn our clocks ahead one hour for Daylight Saving Time.

So what the lost hour of sleep can mean for drivers?

Aileen Shibata is the Road Safety program manager for ICBC, and she says losing even an hour of sleep can have a big impact.

“The number one thing is just your ability to concentrate maybe less because you’re missing some sleep. Your reaction time time or your ability to react to habits on the road or something unexpected, and juts your ability to be alert in general.”

Her advice, get as much sleep as you can heading into the time change so your well-rested for the Monday morning commute.

If possible — go to bed early.
