Canucks conclude the trip in Winnipeg against the Jets

WINNIPEG, MB (NEWS 1130) – A five game road trip comes to an end in Winnipeg for the Vancouver Canucks as they battle the Jets.

It’s a back to back for Vancouver, but the team is feeling a little better about itself with the arrival of Brock Boeser, and a win over one of the west’s best in the Minnesota Wild.

Boeser scored a goal in his hyped Vancouver debut, and his new linemate (for now) had some nice things to say prior to Sunday’s game.

“He was good.” Sven Baertschi said.

“He came in…I wasn’t that calm in poised in my first game, I remember. (Boeser) came in and played well right away. He made the plays that he had to, and got some shots on net that helped his confidence.”

While nothing would suggest that Boeser doesn’t play Sunday, if he does, it would mark three games in three days with travel. Willie Dejardins did remark after Saturday’s game that fatigue could play in to Boeser taking a seat.

Richard Bachman backstopped the Canucks to the victory in Minnesota, but it seems like the team will turn back to Ryan Miller. All three goaltenders, including the healing Jacob Markstrom were on the ice Sunday morning.

The Jets aren’t at full strength for this one. Defenseman Dustin Byfuglien has been ruled out for Sunday’s action, and rookie star Patrik Laine will be a game time decision due to an illness.

The two teams have split the previous two meetings just before Christmas at Rogers Arena.
