Man sentenced for sexually assaulting Surrey senior in 2015

NEW WESTMINSTER (NEWS 1130) – A man has been sentenced to 13 years in jail after breaking into a South Surrey home and assaulting a 70-year-old woman.
Both the Crown Counsel and defence lawyers have put forward a joint submission asking the judge at BC Supreme Court to deliver a 13-year sentence.
In the judge’s decision, she noted he still poses a very real danger to the public and described the attack as a truly horrific home invasion.
The details of this case are horrifying. Today the court heard how Stephen Morse of Langley broke into the victim’s home back in 2015. He pulled out a knife while demanding cash and other valuables and when the victim couldn’t remember a PIN for a bank card, Morse punched her in the face with lead-weighted gloves then he sexually assaulted her. The victim had also been restrained and police at the time said she suffered significant injuries.
The woman was able to escape while Morse rummaged through her home.
