Search underway after Oak Bay home invasion

OAK BAY (NEWS 1130) – A search is underway for a suspect after a home invasion that left a woman with significant injuries this morning.

Police were called to the home on the Esplanade near Willows Beach at Oak Bay around 7:30 this morning. They found the 45-year-old woman with upper body injuries from some sort of edged weapon. She was taken to the hospital by ambulance, and requires surgery.

Officers say a man entered the home, the woman confronted him and there was a struggle, before the intruder took off. They say the woman didn’t know him.

Two nearby elementary schools were asked to go into a “Lock and Secure” mode for a short time after the incident this morning.

The suspect was a man in his 20s, described as heavy-set and wearing a brown jacket, dark pants and a base ball cap. He had a light blue and white handkerchief or bandana around his neck.
