NDP leader asking Green Party supporters NOT to split support

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – So what are the chances of Green Party supporters splitting the vote enough to help the Liberals and hurt the NDP?

During the last election more than 10 ridings could have had different outcomes if the Greens hadn’t run candidates.

In many, including Burnaby North, Vancouver-Fraserview and North Vancouver-Lonsdale, the combined vote was strong enough to defeat the ruling government.

That’s assuming every Green voter would have supported the New Democrats.

NDP leader John Horgan says it’s a big risk to take for anyone wanting to defeat the Liberals.

“Well, after 16 years of neglecting the services that people count on and making life more unaffordable, I don’t think we can afford four more years of Christy Clark. I encourage all voters to come together and vote for the group of people that can make life better for them and form a new government and that’s the BC NDP.”

In 2013, the Oak Bay-Gordon Head seat currently held by Green Party leader Andrew Weaver had him taking 40 per cent of the vote.
