NDP requests recounts in three ridings

VICTORIA (NEWS 1130) – With the final result for the provincial election still up in the air, the NDP is requesting recounts in three ridings.
The recounts have been requested for:
Coquitlam-Burke Mountain, where Liberal candidate Joan Isaacs won by 268 votes — and if that gap seems bigger than election night, it’s because Elections BC has issued a correction saying there was a transcription error.
Vancouver-False Creek, where the governing party won by 560 votes.
And Richmond Queensborough, where the NDP lost out by 263 votes.
The NDP says this is about having full confidence in the election results given these races were so close.
“With the election still undecided, we’re working hard to ensure every last vote is counted properly,” said BC NDP Provincial Director Raj Sihota. “In an election this close, British Columbians deserve to have full confidence in the results, and that means ensuring the ballots in close races are counted thoroughly and carefully.”
This follows calls from the BC Liberals for recounts in Courtney-Comox and Mission-Maple Ridge.
