Fatal crash in Delta

DELTA (NEWS 1130) – The driver of a tractor-trailer is dead following a crash on River Road in Delta late last night.
At around 10:45 pm, a semi appeared to hit a hydro pole along a winding portion of River Road between Webster and Alexander, just west of the Alex Frasier Bridge. It then crashed on to an industrial property.
First responders tried to free the driver from the wreckage, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
He was a 56-year-old man from Surrey.
Not only will the road be closed for several hours because of the investigation, but power was also knocked for a few hours. BC Hydro is at the scene to try and repair the damage.
The investigation is still ongoing, but police believe weather conditions played a significant role in the crash.
