Family makes desperate appeal to find Surrey mother

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – It has been more than a week since anyone has seen or heard from 54-year-old Sandy Li Liao. Now, her daughter is turning to the public for help to find her mother.

The last known sighting of Liao was at a mattress store on 54A Avenue where she worked, which was last Friday. Three days later Mounties found her van, a green 2000 Toyota Sienna, behind the Guildford Recreation Centre.

“We are very worried and anxious of her well-being because this is very out of character for her and it has already been almost two weeks. She has never gone missing before and would never travel long without letting us know,” says daughter Cindy Chang.

She adds this situation is really stressing out her family. “Everyone is very concerned and worried about her well-being and it is very upsetting for us to imagine any possible outcomes. Her safe return would mean the world to our family because without her our family wold never be complete.”

RCMP say it’s possible she may have travelled to Vancouver Island and police are following up on that and other possible investigative leads.

Liao is described as Asian, 5’1″ tall, 110 lbs., with a thin build, long shoulder length brown hair, brown eyes and she wears glasses. Police don’t have a description of the clothes she was last seen wearing.

Anyone with information about Liao’s whereabouts is asked to call Surrey RCMP at 604.599.0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1.800.222.8477 and quote file number 2017-71529.
