Man wearing headphones hit by a train in Langley

LANGLEY (NEWS 1130) – An apparently homeless man wearing large headphones was hit by a train last night while walking along the tracks, according to the initial findings of the RCMP investigation.

It happened in the 6100 block of Glover Road just before 10:30 p.m.

While the unidentified man survived the initial collision, he later passed away in hospital.

“Regardless of the fact that there were train horns and attempts made to stop, he was struck by the locomotive,” says Cpl. Holly Largy, adding it’s likely the man didn’t hear the train coming.

“Anything that sort of takes your mind off of what’s going on around you is not the best thing when you’re talking about motor vehicles,” she adds.

The man appears to be in his early 40’s. Police are now working to identify his next of kin.
