Speeding driver’s Ferrari impounded for 60 days

WEST VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A driver caught speeding at 210 kilometres an hour over the Lions Gate Bridge on Monday has had his car impounded for 60 days, rather than the initial seven, and could be banned from driving.

The posted speed limit on the bridge is 60 kilometres an hour.

The 22-year-old West Vancouver man’s 2015 Ferrari 458 was initially impounded for seven days, but West Vancouver police have extended that to two months. They’re also providing reports to the Superintendent so a prohibition from driving can be considered.

That driving ban would be separate from any penalties imposes on the man if he is convicted on charges of excessive speed and driving without due care and attention charges.

It’s not the first time the driver has been caught speeding by police. The same West Vancouver police officer stopped him in April for excessive speed on the same bridge.

In total, this is the man’s fourth speeding offence.
