Double homicide in West End apartment building

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Homicide investigators have arrested a person of interest after two bodies were found in a Morton Avenue apartment late yesterday afternoon.
The victims have been identified as a 57-year-old woman and a 51-year-old man, both from Vancouver.
Sergeant Jason Robillard with the Vancouver Police department says details are sketchy at this point in time.
“The victims and the person of interest – I don’t want to call him a suspect right now – and whether or not they were known to us right now will form part of the investigation.”
He adds it’s still too early to say what may have happened.
“So we’re looking for anybody that may have seen anything suspicious, starting at Saturday July the 8th to in the early evening of Sunday July the 9th.”
Officers were initially called to 1835 Morton Avenue just before 5 p.m. Sunday.
Police say all parties involved know each other, and based on the information they’ve collected so far, there is no indication that the public is at risk.
Investigators are now asking for anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity around the apartment building between Saturday afternoon and early Sunday evening to call them at 604-717-2500, or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
