Thousands expected to learn about electric vehicles at Electrafest

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – If you’ve been thinking about buying an electric car, listen up.

Today is the 22nd annual Electrafest, Vancouver’s celebration of electric vehicles at Concord Pacific Place.

Over the past few years, we’ve seen some big changes when it comes to electric vehicles. Tesla, for example, has shown us going green doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style or power.

Electrafest is a chance to ask more questions, or even take an electric car for a spin.

“I’ve just had an electric vehicle myself for about three years, and in that time I’ve seen a tremendous increase and general awareness of what electric vehicles are all about,” says Bruce Sharpe, the president of the Vancouver Electric Vehicle Association. “But there are still lots of questions that people have and what we hope to address at Electrafest.

Electrafest is a celebration of the electric car. The event will also be a chance to check out some local companies in this space, such as VeloMetro and Electra Meccanica.

“Electric cars for test drives, we’ll have cars for ride-alongs as well as electric bikes ansd scooters and things like that. It’s a family-friendly event, it’s free for anybody that wants to come and learn about electric vehicles,” says Bruce Sharpe, the president of the Vancouver Electric Vehicle Association.

VEVA is expecting around 3,000 people to stop by to check out the event.

Electrafest is on from 10 a.m. til 4 p.m. on Saturday.
