VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The Vancouver Police Department is taking extra steps to make sure bed bugs aren’t crawling on their officer’s uniforms.
It’s a special treatment room which can heat up to 48 degrees Celsius, which can help kill any pests clinging to uniforms or equipment.
“Some members had some fear that they may bring the bed bugs home with them,” Sergeant Jason Robillard explains.
“These are members that typically work in our Downtown Eastside area and do foot patrols in there.”
Robillard adds he’s not aware of any contaminated uniforms so far, but some officers have been using the treatment room as a precaution.
