VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – It’s a plan to come up with a plan about winter tires, and when they should be used.
Vancouver City Council on Wednesday night approved a large package of snow-related plans to bolster the city’s snow response, including improved communication during a snowstorm.
It also directs city staff to come up with a recommendation for a bylaw fining people who drive in the city without winter tires while snow is on the ground.
That recommendation would have to come back before council for approval.
A majority of NEWS 1130 listeners who voted in our web poll say they didn’t like the idea, while some who called our listener line said it was a great move by the city.
“People should be preparing for winter,” one listener said.
