VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The City of Vancouver is paving over the Robson Street Plaza today to bring it level with the sidewalk, another step towards the area becoming a permanent place for pedestrians.
The City’s Jenniffer Scheel explains.
“In order to create a really great, functional plaza, having a level surface is the best way to go. We are putting the temporary asphalt down in order to create a space while we are going through the final stages.”
VIVA Vancouver has been activating the Robson Street Plaza during the summer since 2011 and council made the decision last year to turn the space into a permanent fixture.
The city will begin final construction next year.
