Driver shot at in Abbotsford; suspect vehicle later found on fire

ABBOTSFORD (NEWS 1130) – Police in Abbotsford are at a loss to explain why someone opened fire on a man who simply driving home along Bradner Road last night.

The black Audi was hit by several bullets at about 7:30 p.m. Constable Ian MacDonald with Abbotsford Police says the black Audi was approached by someone in a white BMW.

“That suspect began shooting. The round actually struck the vehicle. At that point, the complainant did the right thing — he retreated to safety and ultimately called police,” he tells us.

“A short time later, we found a vehicle that we believe is, in fact, that suspect vehicle. It had been set on fire in the area of Nathan Avenue,” he adds.

“It appears that vehicle if in fact it is connected to the shooting, and we think that’s likely, appears to be stolen from Surrey.”

Macdonald calls the whole incident disturbing. The man who was targeted in this shooting is in his 40s and is not known to police.

Abbotsford Police aren’t sure of a motive at this time.
