BURNABY (NEWS 1130) – Police say they have narrowed the timeline with new video in relation to a 13-year-old girl’s death.

Investigators believe the girl’s homicide occurred in Burnaby’s Central Park where she was found. She was last seen near Central Boulevard and McKay Avenue just after 7:30 p.m. on July 18th.

“It should be noted that this does not change our belief that [the girl’s] homicide was random,” says Cpl. Meghan Foster of IHIT in a release.

Foster says video footage has been collected from more than 60 locations, but police are also seeking film from a July 22nd vigil in the park, as well as from the girl’s funeral at Mountain View Cemetery July 28th.

“This investigation has drawn the attention of people clear across the nation. That kind of interest, you know, may very well draw someone to a scene and we can’t rule that out. That’s what we’re trying to do is not rule out any possibilities.”

Homicide investigators and RCMP members say they’ve identified more than 90 persons of interest, and have received at least 200 tips.
