Man failed to return to his halfway house late last month

SAANICH (NEWS 1130) – A convicted sex offender who skipped out on his Vancouver halfway house late last month is back in custody.

Vancouver Police say Michael Bopfinger, 42, was arrested this afternoon in Central Saanich on Vancouver Island.
Bopfinger was on statutory release in Vancouver, but a Canada-wide warrant was issued for him for being unlawfully at large when he didn’t return home by his curfew on August 25th.

He was arrested in conjunction with a combined effort between the VPD, Central Saanich and Victoria police departments.
