The Sedin twins aren’t going anywhere

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Vancouver Canucks fans can expect more magic from #22 and #33.

Daniel and Henrik Sedin say they will always be Canucks, and won’t play for anyone else.

Sportsnet 650‘s Rick Dhaliwal says the public statement on The Players’ Tribune this morning will get rid of at least one distraction.

“This is great for management because they avoid all these constant rumours and constant talk about moving them at the deadline, getting draft picks… they don’t have to deal with that anymore.”

Rick adds the statement is also great for the Sedins.

“They’re in the final years of their contract, and they won’t be asked every day about the trading deadline that’s coming up. So, it’s a good move. They say they’re going to finish it up [in Vancouver]. We don’t know how many more years. They say they’ll talk to management about next year, maybe the year after.

In the statement, Daniel says, “If we are going to win a Stanley Cup, if we are going to achieve our dream, we’d only want it to be in Vancouver. If we did it anywhere else, I don’t think it would feel the same.”

The Sedin twins are 36 years old.
