'This is all about bringing Canadians down to help out wherever they're needed': Organizer

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A Canadian Soldier is asking for your help as he plans to head to Florida tomorrow to help with cleanup from Hurricane Irma.

Jessie Lavoi is both a veteran and a correctional officer, but his latest call to duty involves helping out the people dealing with Irma. He says you can help with The North Goes South too.

“Whatever you can offer, we’ll gladly accept.” And that’s because there are plenty of different roles for anyone. “We’re looking for hard working Canadians if you have got a vehicle strap a Canadian flag to it and meet me down there. It’s not just about lifting heavy things, there’s lots that can be done.”

He says he will be working with organizers who are already there.

“We’re going to go down there and ask the right people where they need us. We’re going to work together with other teams, this is all about bringing Canadians down to help out wherever they’re needed.”
