Dianne Watts to possibly seek leadership of BC Liberal Party

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Surrey Conservative MP Dianne Watts may be preparing to throw her hat into the ring for leadership of the BC Liberals.

The former mayor of Surrey is making an “important announcement” this Sunday at the Sheraton Guildford Hotel.

Should she run for the job, she would have to give up her seat as a Conservative MP for the riding of Surrey-White Rock.

Interim Party leader Rich Coleman has said there were several people interested in the job, but he didn’t give any names.

Earlier today the party announced the date for the first of its six party leadership debates — the first one is October 15th in Surrey.

Watts served as Surrey’s mayor from 2005 until 2014.

NEWS 1130 has reached out to Watts for comment, as well as the BC Liberals and federal Conservatives.
