Commuter has some interesting tales about her daily trips to work on her bike between North Delta and New Westminste

DELTA (NEWS 1130) – Traffic jams are the least of Cassie Catchpole’s worries — she rides her bike between North Delta and New Westminster as part of her daily trip to work!

Her harrowing tale of dodging skunks and dogs makes her this week’s winner in our Vancouver’s Worst Commute contest.

She says her commute could be a sitcom.

“I’ve ridden through Burns Bog when it’s been flooded. I’ve ridden through Burns Bog after a big storm and flew over the handlebars doing that. I got charged by a Doberman Pinscher one time early in the morning. I came face-to-face with a skunk’s butt a few months ago. I’ve been attacked by crows during breeding season. Oh, and I get flat tires probably every few weeks, too.”

Cassie adds one of the most memorable stories of her commute was the time she dropped her phone off the Alex Fraser Bridge. “And it’s pitch black. I still have to get to work. Then, literally about two minutes afterwards, I got a flat tire. So, I had to head over to the SkyTrain… I was late by a bit and when I got to work, I’m like, ‘I don’t want to talk about it.'”

She adds the phone ended up falling into a construction site off the bridge deck, and she was able to find it the next day.
