Boy dies after accidental shooting on Salt Spring Island

SALT SPRING ISLAND (NEWS 1130) – A boy is dead following an accidental shooting at a home on Salt Spring Island yesterday.
Corporal Tammy Douglas with RCMP says police were called to the home early in the morning.
“Police responded to a residence on Salt Spring Island where six youths were present. One of the youths had been shot and he was transported to a hospital with life threatening injuries.”
The boy, whose age has not been released, later died of his injuries.
“Salt Spring Island RCMP are investigating with the assistance of Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit. RCMP Victim’s Services is also engaged.”
So far, no charges have been laid.
