Two suspicious deaths at a Vancouver home

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Vancouver Police say the deaths of two people at a south Vancouver house are suspicious.

Homicide investigators have been called to the address on West 64th Avenue near Selkirk, where neighbours of the house involved admit they’re worried about their own safety.

Tina Kramer has lived in the area for 17 years, and says this is the first time something like this has ever happened.

“Never, it’s been a great neighbourhood. Lots of children walking, nothing,” explains Kramer, who adds seeing the police tape up around the home surprised her. “[It] scares you always, right?”

She doesn’t know the owners of the house involved, and wonders if this was a targeted attack.

Police have confirmed two people are dead, but they’re not saying how they were killed.

People from the area walking by the scene in the evening say they were shocked to see a serious and tragic investigation in their usually quite and family-centered neighbourhood.

A group of friends in grade eight were on their way to visit a friend who lives on the street when they saw the police tape.

“At first I thought it was a car accident because usually people drive through the stop sign really, really fast and you always hear honks every few hours,” one girl in the group tells NEWS 1130.

“But it’s turned out to be this and this is way more scary because that could have happened to my house for all I know.”

Another man says he saw something online about a police investigation, but upon taking his dog for a walk, was surprised to find the scene just down the street.

“I just though, OK, maybe they’re just blocking off the street, filming something again, because Vancouver is known for that. And then I see the real police guys come here, people dressed up like they’re in CSI, and I was like, wow, I don’t think this is movie after all.”

Other people living nearby say they did not hear or see anything that would have indicated something tragic was about to happen on their street.
