VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Heavy rainfall in and around Vancouver has been snarling traffic thanks to overflowing storm drains.
It was especially bad near the corner of Cambie and Broadway, people including Natalie Bennett have been navigating around heavy-flowing water to cross the intersection.
“I was going to go to Chipotle, but I can’t reach it. So, now I guess I’ll be going to the other taco place,” she chuckles.
Business owners have been using mops and brooms to keep the water from pooling in their storefronts.
We spoke with Gilda, who was standing at the intersection for about 10 minutes, debating whether to try crossing the flooded road. “I’m heading towards London Drugs, but I’m afraid to cross the street! I think I shall be brave and give it a try because I’m wearing my rain boots.”
City of Vancouver staff are advising anyone with flooding problems to report them by calling 3-1-1.
